Finite Gel'fand
pairs: (new) examples and applications
Tullio Ceccherini-Silberstein of Universitá del Sannio,
Benevento, Italy
We will present an introduction to finite Gelfand pairs stressing the
important role they play both in non-commutative harmonic analysis and
in probability. Several examples will be considered and a new
construction which generalizes the previous examples will be presented.
The talk will be completely self-contained and should be accesible to
first year graduate students.
