The subject of the talk is a certain substitution over the 4-letter alphabet that plays important role in the study of the Grigorchuk group.  On the other hand, this substitution gives rise to a dynamical system, a substitution subshift.  I will discuss properties of the dynamical system, which turns out to be almost conjugated to the binary odometer, and possible connections with the Grigorchuk group.
