Slow and rotated
mating of polynomials
Volodymyr Nekrashevych of Texas A&M
University
We will discuss a construction of "mating" of polynomials in
group-theoretical and dynamical settings. Recent study by X.Buff,
S.Koch, J.Hubbard and A.Epstein based on a joint paper of L. Bartholdi
and the speaker provides nice movies of "slow mating" and "rotated
mating", which will be shown during the talk. I will try to describe
how some of these movies are interpreted in terms of self-similar
groups.
