Some geometric properties of solvable algebraic groups over local fields

We will talk about an isoperimetric property which is shared by a large class of amenable locally compact groups, i.e. algebraic groups over local fields. Among various applications, we deduce the asymptotic behavior of the probability of return of random walks on these groups.
