Shifting Functions

Instructions:

• Before beginning the drill you should familiarize yourself with the graphs of the following "Basic Functions":
  x,     x^2,     x^3,     1/x,     1/x^2,     sqrt(x),     abs(x)
  To see their graphs, click here: Basic Functions
• In the drill you will be shown the graph of a function f(x) which is one of the basic functions which has been shifted left or right and up or down by integer amounts.
• You may click in the plot to find the coordinates of a point.
• You are to enter the formula for the function f(x) in the answer box using Maple syntax and click on the Check Your Answer button.
• If you are correct, you will be congratulated.
• If you are incorrect, you will be shown a plot with the original function f(x) shown in BLUE and your Answer shown in RED.
  Correct your answer and Check Your Answer again.
• If you have trouble, you may scroll to the bottom and click on Show the Answer.
• On the Setup page you can set the size of the plot.
