Regression

First enter the data into the lists, usually L1 for the x-values and L2 for the y-values .

A scatter plot will help determine which regression model would be useful when having to choose from a variety of models.

Once you have chosen the type of regression, the calculator will automatically go to the home screen.

Now you need to tell the calculator where the data is located.

The calculator will display the regression model. The correlation coefficient may or may not be displayed. See the details given below on how to turn this option on.

Optional Trick with Regression

When the regression formula needs to be graphed, the formula is entered into the Y= menu. This can be tedious due to the large numbers in the formula. To automatically enter the formula in the Y= menu do the following right before pressing enter.

The regression formula will be computed and regression formula will be saved in Y1.

Note: The correlation coefficient, R, and the coefficient of determination, R2, are sometimes shown when a regression model is computed. If it is not shown, then it can be activated.
