TITLE: Transcendental Algebraic Geometry

ABSTRACT: I will discuss recent work with R. Laza and Z. Zhang which studies the moduli space of cubic pairs using techniques from geometric invariant theory and Hodge theory. Time permitting, I will explain the motivation for this work coming from the study of hyperkahler manifolds.
