Postdoc Lunch Time Talks

Date: October 24, 2019

Time: 12:55PM - 1:15PM

Location: BLOC 220

Speaker: Jurij Volcic, Texas A&M University

Description:

Title: Free Bertini's theorem

Abstract: Bertini's irreducibility theorem is a classical result ubiquitous in algebraic geometry. In its simplest form it states that the generic fiber of a non-composite polynomial function is an irreducible hypersurface. The talk presents its analog for a free associative algebra, some background and applications to matricial evaluations of noncommutative polynomials.
