Mathematics Leadership Program (MLP)
     leading to a
Masters of Science in Mathematics
     and a
Certificate in Mathematics Leadership

Requirements: 36 graduate hours as follows:

  • Eight mathematics courses (24 hours)
    • MATH 629, 645, 646, and 696
    • MATH 640, 470, and/or 664 (quantum computing)
    • Three other mathematics courses approved by your committee chair
  • Two mathematics leadership courses (6 hours)
    • Topics in 21st century mathematics
    • Curriculum development
    • Educational Administration courses EDAD 605, 606, 626, 637, 638, 650,659, 670
  • Statistics (3 hours)
    • STAT 601, 651
  • Capstone course (3 hours)
    • Research paper(s). (Proposed new course Math 665) with suggested topics:
      • Curriculum development
      • Standards in mathematics
      • High stakes examinations
      • Placement examinations
      • Teaching collegiate mathematics courses
      • Student motivation in mathematics
      • AP courses
      • Assessment methods and categories
      • Using the Internet to teach mathematics
