Getting started with HTML

Before you can write HTML, you need to know how to open a terminal window. You also need to know how to use a text editor. If you are uncertain about what editor to use, you can read about various editors. If you are not already committed by years of experience to a particular text editor, try emacs. To check that you can effectively use your chosen text editor, complete the exercise on text editing.
