N. Sivakumar, Center for Approximation Theory, Department of Mathematics, Texas A&M University, College Station, TX 77843-3368, USA

A brief biography

Sivakumar was brought into this world several years ago (never mind how many) in Tirunelveli, a city in the southern Indian state of Tamilnadu ; he grew up in the coastal city of Chennai (Madras) , the capital of Tamilnadu. Following initial schooling there, which culminated in a short stint as a junior research fellow at the Ramanujan Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics, he departed the shores of his ancient homeland for the wintry climes of western Canada . His sojourn in Edmonton , Alberta , lasted a full six years, during which period his time was allegedly spent in pursuit of higher studies. (It may be noted that his presence there coincided with the glorious `Stanley-Cup Era' of the Edmonton Oilers .) His doctoral thesis, entitled Studies in Box Splines , was written under the tutelage of Professor S. D. Riemenschneider . Sivakumar has lived in College Station , Texas, since the autumn of 1990.

Field of study

I am primarily a student of analysis, interested specifically in certain aspects of approximation theory. As inferable from this scanty (but complete) list of publications, a substantial portion of my work has revolved around the interpolatory theory of functions.
