A goal of this assignment is to edit two term paper drafts
written by your peers. It is expected that you read each draft at least twice.
Step 1: Get
two paper drafts from your instructor in class on Thursday 10/17/19. Note
that this is your responsibility to make sure you received them. Note that if you did not submit Writing Assignment 3, then you cannot get papers for editing . Step 2: Read each draft and edit it. ( Review Directions, Guidelines and Format of Term Paper if needed, see the previous assignment). Remember that a good editing job results in suggestions and comments
written directly on the draft by the editor. I want to see your
written comments and suggestions on the edited copies. If too many
language, presentation, or mathematics errors are missed, you might not
get the full credit for the editing effort. You
should focus your attention on how well the written words are
communicating the topic to the reader. Can you understand what is
written? Do the ideas flow logically from one to another? Is the
writing grammatically and stylistically correct? When needed, provide
alternate ways of expressing ideas, suggest wording that might be more
appropriate, indicate if a paragraph should be split or when a
different introductory sentence to a paragraph would improve the
writing. Other types of meaningful suggestions are also welcome. Note: All comments should be written using pen (red/green/purple ink) . Step 3: Print
out Student Editor Worksheet
(one per draft).
Read each draft again paying attention and indicating (if it was
not done during the first reading) mistakes/problems listed in the
worksheet. Fill in one worksheet for each draft and attach/staple each
one of them to the top of the corresponding draft. Step 4: Return to me the drafts with your written comments and attached coversheets (Student Editor Worksheet).
