                             Day 17.T


    1.  Collect homework; distribute CAPA and call attention to 
    revised homework assignment.

    2.  Discuss circular lake problem and the geometrical 
    theorems behind it.

    3.  Lecture on differentials (like the Web page, except for 
    the chain-rule and measurement-error sections).

    4.  Finish jigsaw.  File a brief e-mail report (list 
    speakers and participants; comment on what was accomplished 
    or wasn't).  This will be a record for class participation 
    grade.
ALL THIS SEEMED FAIRLY SUCCESSFUL.  STUDENTS REMARKED THAT THE 
EXERCISE HELPED THEM GET TO KNOW THEIR NEW TEAMMATES.
