Identify especially troublesome problems that deserve the attention of the whole class. ONE PROBLEM (ROPE ATTACHED TO CARTS OVER PULLEY) WAS JUSTLY CRITICIZED AS NOT WELL-POSED. THE TEAM THAT REPORTED THIS ALSO HAD TROUBLE SETTING THE PROBLEM UP, SO I PROMISED TO PROVIDE A SOLUTION LATER. INDIVIDUAL STUDENTS ASKED ABOUT A PROBLEM INVOLVING VEHICLES MOVING IN OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS ON PARALLEL TRACKS, BUT TOO LATE TO BE DISCUSSED IN PLENARY SESSION. I ALSO SHOWED HOW TO DO THE CHAIN RULE PROBLEM INVOLVING FUNCTIONS DEFINED GRAPHICALLY BY BROKEN LINES. 2. Individual RAT on summation notation. 3. Start the lecture on area and Riemann sums (see next day).
