Strategies in the Middle School Math Classroom
Tying It Together
Mrs. Jerri Roemer will be presenting a program to discuss the vertical alignment of number theory (particularly rational numbers), geometry, and algebraic reasoning from 4th through 8th grade. She will present some hands-on methods for teaching middle school children these mathematical concepts. Some of the activities will be:

Proportional People

Polygon Attributes

Breakfast Box Investigation

Human Number Lines
She will tie these to methods for teaching literacy in the Mathematics Classroom and discuss the importance of Motivation and Differentiation in teaching Mathematics as well as incorporating high-level questioning. Math teachers will be able to walk away with ideas to use in the Middle School Math Classroom.
