Homework assignment 1 , due Feb 4, Warner p.50 problems 1,2,3,5,6 (the problem 6 is bonus question, you can get other 25 points for it)

Extra credit assignment,
due Feb 9: instructions:  submit the detailed proofs of Lemma 1.9, p.9  and Theorem 1.11, p.10-11 of Warner,  including some points that are not explained in the book such as

1. Page 9, line 14 from the top: The fact that X is Hausdorff and locally compact implies that this subcollection is itself a basis.

2. Page 10 line 5 from the top" This collection of open sets is easily seen to be a countable, locally finite refinement of the open cover...

and any other point where you feel more details has to be given.

Please read the section Tensors and Exterior Algebras, pages 54-62, from Warner ; we will discuss this right after Spring break but I recommend  you already to start to try to solve the problems for the next homework

Homework assignment 4 , due March 29, Warner p.77 problem 2, p. 78 problems 9, 10, p.79-80  problem 12, 13, and bonus 20 points problem 14.submission is postponed to March 31.

The midterm exam will take place on Tuesday , April 5, 4p.m-6 p.m. THE ROOM FOR THE TEST WILL BE BLOCKER 220 .
The material consist of Chapter 1 and the first section of chapter 2 (i.e the section of ''Tensor and Exterior Algebras'', subsections 2.1-2.13). Please read my email for more information.

Special office hours for the midterm exam will take place  on Monday,    April 4 from 11 a.m. till 2 p.m. in my office.
