General iLrn Information

What is iLrn?

iLrn is an online system that provides testing, tutorials and course management. At Texas A&M, it is primarily used for online assessments such as homeworks and quizzes. The main iLrn page (www.iLrn.com) has several links with multimedia presentations of the iLrn system. You do not need an account to view this information.

Which classes MUST use iLrn?

The Fall Diagnostic is now given via iLrn during the first two weeks of class. If you are teaching Math 102, 103, 131, 141, 142, 150, 151, 166, 171 or 365, your students will take the diagnostic on iLrn. You should be sent information via email on how to do this during the week before classes start. You can also refer to information on this site by clicking here.

Finite Math (141/166) use the Finite Math on the Web (FMOW) quizzes and tutorials. If you are teaching those classes, more information will be sent to you via email or you can refer to information on this site by clicking here.

Business Calculus (142) use the ACNOW! quizzes and tutorials. If you are teaching this class, more information will be sent to you via email or you can refer to information on this site by clicking here.

Which classes MAY use iLrn?

Any class using a Thomson text may use iLrn for class. Many texts have prepared exercises that are accessible on the iLrn website. For Fall 2005, Amy Austin will provide homework sets for Math 151 and 152. Contact her if you are interested. Ahmad El-Guindy will provide homework sets for Math 251. You can also learn to author your own questions. Contact Janice Epstein for more information .

How do I get my student on iLrn?

A student needs a course or content access code to register for iLrn. For Fall 2005, there is one code for *ALL* students using iLrn. The code is
E-4X3T7K7UU3S2R
This enrolls the student into the Aggie Math class. In this class is one assignment that provides an introduction to iLrn and directions on how to enroll into a class. This code can be sent out via your NEO class roster as soon as you have access to your fall classes. Early registration into iLrn will make the diagnostic go more smoothly when it opens during the first week of class. See the diagnostic page for more information.

How do use the NEO class roster tool?

See the official help page or call 845-8300.

Or Janice Epstein .

Our tech support supervisior is Rick Vaughan. His office number is 541-349-3468. If it is extremely urgent, you can contact Rick on his cell phone at 541-953-3969. He is trusting us to not give these numbers to our students. Please encourage the students to use the main tech support number or email. If you use Yahoo IM, Rick can be found as lunar_rickyv. (Another secret name to keep - we are arranging for a student YIM name).

Finally, there is live local help in BLOC 104 from 7P to 10P on Sunday - Thursdays during the semester.
