Title: Growth of actions of finitely generated solvable groups

Abstract: Given a group G, we are interested in the possible behaviours of the growth of the graphs of faithful actions of G. It is well known that many finitely generated groups G admit faithful actions whose graph is much smaller than the growth of the group, for instance the latter is in many cases linear. We are interested in obstruction to the existence of such actions of small growth. To formalise this, given a function f(n), we say that a group G has Schreier growth gap f(n) if every faithful G-set X has growth at least f(n). I will discuss results establishing Schreier growth gaps in the setting of finitely generated solvable groups. This is joint work with Adrien Le Boudec.

Title: Bergman-Calabi diastasis and Kähler metric of constant holomorphic sectional curvature

Abstract: With Bun Wong at UC Riverside, we study bounded domains in C^n with the Bergman metric of constant holomorphic sectional curvature. We give equivalent conditions for the domains being biholomorphic to a ball in terms of the exhaustiveness of the Bergman-Calabi diastasis. In particular, we prove that such domains are Lu Qi-Keng. We also extend a theorem of Lu towards the incomplete situation and characterize pseudoconvex domains that are biholomorphic to a ball possibly less a relatively closed pluripolar set.
