Duties
Primary responsibilities consist of the installation, maintenance and problem tracking of the Department's UNIX servers, including the Calclab machines; maintenance of the Department's Windows Terminal Services systems; installs software and provides systems backup for all machines; maintains World Wide Web and feature implementation; interacts with customers regarding programming projects and uses best practices to formulate development plans; performs PC diagnostics and miscellaneous programming tasks for department support. Other duties as required.
Responsibilities
The Systems Analyst shall have the authority and responsibility for making mid-level IT operations decisions, examples of which include: hardware and software acquisitions under $1000, non-critical changes to software and application configuration.
Supervision
- Received:
- General instruction from the Senior Systems Analyst and Systems Analyst II.
- Given:
- General instruction to the Student Technicians.
Education
- Required:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education/training/relevant experience. One year of experience may substitute for one year of education.
- Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in mathematics, computer science, engineering or related field. Unix programming experience in C, sed, and awk. SQL programming for PostgreSQL and MySQL.
Experience
- Required:
- Two (2) years experience in Unix System administration, Systems analysis, Programming, Networking, or Software Engineering. Programming experience in Bourne shell, and Perl. Strong written and verbal skills. Some background in Microsoft Terminal Services is necessary. Requires ability to multi-task and work independently as well as cooperatively with others.
