Title: The Hermitization and Linearization tricks to compute Brown measure for certain non-normal operators
Abstract: The Brown measure (an analogue of the spectral distribution measure) for a class of non-normal operators can be computed using what are known as the Hermitization and Linearization methods. I will present an overview of this, based on work by Belinschi, Sniady, and Speicher. In particular, this will lead to a proof of the Haagerup-Larsen Single Ring Theorem for R-diagonal operators. If time permits, I will talk about how this can be used to compute the eigenvector correlators (a measure of the angle between left and right eigenvectors for non-normal matrices), based on work by Belinschi, Nowak, Speicher, and Tarnowski.
