Cafe Eccell, 101 Church Ave. 846-7908. Good pizzas, chicken, and fish dishes
along with interesting daily specials make Cafe Eccell the best restaurant
of its kind in College Station. Uses a wood-burning stove and has a wide

Christopher's World Grill, 5001 FM 158. 776-2181. Before Madden's opened, this was THE choice for fine dining in the Brazos

Deluxe Burger Bar, 203 W. University. 846-7466. Features sandwiches and burgers.
The cheese-fries are very good, especially if you suffer from chronic low
cholesterol. Good beer selection. Bar. $,**
Freebird's World Burrito, 319 W. University. 846-9298. In Northgate shopping
center within easy walking distance of the Math Department. Offers large
portions at reasonable prices. A favorite of many of the locals. The Monster
Veggie is a must! (Second location near Hastings on Texas Ave.) $,***
Gina's, 300 N. Bryan Ave. Downtown Bryan. 822-1254. Good Tex-Mex food. Carne
a la tampiqueña, chicken soup, and mole are highly recommended. $-$$,**
Jason's Deli, 1404 Texas Ave. 764-2929. This regional chain offers a wide variety of traditional
deli fare, including muffaletta. A reasonable variety of healthy/vegetarian

distance of campus. $$,**
Johnny Carino's, 620 Harvey Rd. 764-7374. Chain Italian restaurant. Noisy,
but the food is cheap and decent for this class of restaurant. $$,**
Jose's, 3824 S Texas Ave. 268-0036. Tex Mex in CS is not great, but here the chicken enchiladas,
both norteñas and verdes, which can be ordered hot or mild, are
better than can be found elsewhere. $-$$,*
Kyoto Japanese Restaurant, 113 College Main. 846-5541. Reasonable sushi and sashimi. The bento box

La Bodega, 102 Church St. 691-8226. Good fish tacos and margaritas. $,**
Los Cucos, (authentic Mexican food) 1521 Texas Ave. 680-8896. Fried stuffed

Madden's Casual Gourmet, 202 S. Bryan Ave. 779-2558. The best fine
dining restaurant in the area and the only restaurant that has reasonable
wine glasses. Open for dinner only Thursday-Saturday, but Monday-Saturday

New China Light, 404 University Dr. E. Best Cantonese around, especially
if you order from the Chinese menu, which now is translated into English.

Ninfa's, 1102 Harvey Rd. 693-0506. This well-known Houston chain now has a
presence in CS. Perhaps the best choice for a Tex-Mex dinner. Lunch items

Pho John's Vietnamese Restaurant, 1901 Texas Ave., in the Hobby Lobby Shopping Center. 696-1250. Vietnamese, good noodle bowls. $$,**

by the doctor/owner/chef/character. Dinner Thurs-Sat.; reservations
only. Go with the beef if you are not a vegan; don't go if you are.

a la carte menu (Fri.-Sat. evening buffet). Hours are 11:30-2:30 pm and 5:30-9:00 pm,

Square One, 211 Wm. J. Bryan Pkwy. 361-0264. Limited Italian menu with limited
atmosphere but good food. Worth the drive. Now has wine service. $-$$,**
Thai Taste, 317 S. College Ave. 260-9171. Long walking distance from Milner.
Offers stir-fry dishes during lunch and a more expanded menu for dinner,
including curries, noodles, soups, etc. Some vegetarian choices. Ranges
from zero-stars to 5-stars in spice - two-stars is plenty for most people.

Coffee Houses, Bars and Dance Halls
Sweet Eugene's, 1702 Kyle Ave (just off Harvey). 696-5282. Good coffee, atmosphere,
and desserts. Has couches, games, books, and music to help while away the
hours. It is expensive for coffee.
Texas Hall of Fame, 2309 S FM Rd 2818 (Bryan). 822-2222. The best bet for
dancing, having a few beers, and relaxing. An older crowd than frequents
the other dance halls in town. Live music (country) on most weekend nights.
Duddley's Draw, 311 University. 846-3030. A nice place to go early in the
evening or during the week anytime. Gets crowded on weekends. Next door
is the Dixie Chicken, the most popular student hangout.
