The fifth homework assignement is due on Tuesday, 11 February 2020.
That day will include computer demonstrations by some students.
Some of these scripts may help you get started with some of the problems:
quartic.maple   quartic.sing       sparse.m2   sparse.sing       sparse_3.m2   sparse_3.sing       Newton_Method.maple.
The fourth homework assignement is due on Monday, 27 January 2020.
It includes a computation with three polynomials, which are found in
ThreePolynomials.txt.
Thomas Yahl's Macaulay2 script, Assignment4.m2.
The third homework assignement is due on Monday, 20 January 2020.
Hand in Problems 1, 2, 4, 5, 6. Send the script from Problems 1, 2, and 4 to Elise Walker at
walkere@math.tamu.edu.
Name them (your Name).(problem number).m2 or (your Name).(problem number).sing, and send them as attachments.
Make sure to also include comments, so that everyone understands what you are doing.
For numbers 1 and 2, you may find the following scripts useful. Problem 1
Singular or in Macaulay 2.
Problem 2 Singular or in Macaulay 2.
Elise Walker's Macaulay2 script, Assignment3M2.m2.
The second homework assignement is due on Friday, 10 January 2020.
Hand in Problems 1, 2, 5, 9, 10, 11. Send the script from Problem 2 to Thomas Yahl at
thomasjyahl@math.tamu.edu
For this, you will need to look at, run, and then modify whichever of the two scripts Sottile wrote on lines on a cubic surface you choose (I will always try to have both Singular and Macaulay2 scripts of the computations that I do). Either in
Singular or in Macaulay 2.
The first homework assignement is due on Friday, 20 December 2019.
