  • Read Syllabus.
  • Read To Students in your textbook (page xii). In case you still need to purchase the book, read it from the book preview (see Syllabus).
  • Classes are cancelled.



  • Section 1.1 notes . (It is recommended to print them out and bring to class.)
  • Takehome Quiz 1 is posted on eCampus. Read first the directions there.




Week 2





 1/23 Choose your term paper topic from one of the following lists:
  • List of Term Paper Topics for section 903 is here.
  • List of Term Paper Topics for section 904 is here
Then go to eCampus and sign-up for the corresponding group associated with your topic number. Note that topic selection is on the first come/first served basis.  After that you can proceed to
Writing Assignment 1.
  • Quiz 2 on Thursday will cover the  the material taught on 1/18 and 1/23. Review notes.
  • Help sessions starts tonight:
7:30-9:30pmBLOC 113Tuesday and Wednesday
  • Homework 1 posted.
  • Enroll to a group associated with your topic number by end of the week (recommended).
  • Then start working on Writing Assignment 1.
