Course description Matrics and systems of linear equations, determinants, vector spaces, linear transformations, orthogonality and inner product spaces, eigenvalues, eigenvectors and diagonalization, vector analysis, including gradient, divergence, curl, line and surface integrals, Gauss', Green' and Stokes' theorems.

Prerequisites: MATH 221, 251, 253; MATH 308 MATH 221, MATH 251, or MATH 253; MATH 308 or concurrent enrollment; junior or senior classification or approval of instructor.

Grading System & Tests: Your grade will be based on two major exams given in class, homework, attendance, quizzes and the (cummulative) final exam. The relative weights of the exams, etc., are given below.

The dates for the exams are:
     Exam 1: October 4 (approximately).
     Exam 2: Nov 20,  in class
     Final: Dec 7, 12:30-2:30pm.

Letter Grade: Your letter grade for the semester will be A, B, C, or D, for averages of minimum 90%, 80%, 70%, or 60%, respectively.

Attendance:

Homework: Late homework loses five points per class meeting (unless accompanied by a university approved excuse in writing). Homeworks late upto two lectures will be accepted, Homeworks that are late over two lecture meetings will not be accepted. Assignments (problem numbers from the book) are posted by due dates on the homework page

Make-up Policy: Make-ups for missed quizzes and exams will only be allowed for a university approved excuse in writing. Wherever possible, students should inform the instructor before an exam or quiz is missed. Consistent with University Student Rules, students are required to notify an instructor by the end of the next working day after missing an exam or quiz. Otherwise, they forfeit their rights to a make-up. TAMU Regulations.
